The Slateford Bridge Legend

11-14-03

This legend is actually true, according to local history. Back in the late 1930's black laborers were commissioned to work on the railroad overpass that goes over the little town of Slateford, PA, (off route 611 in Upper Mt. Bethel.) The town is literally so small, (all on one road), that if you blink, you'll miss it. Anyway...
During the concrete pouring, one of the laborers fell into the form. There was nothing that could be done, and he was literally buried alive inside of the concrete support pillar. To this day, he remains in his final resting place inside the concrete. This much is true.

The second part, (and the part we were trying to confirm), to this tale of horror is that his restless spirit walks the area in Slateford surrounding the bridge and support columns. We had to investigate!

We caught some very good energy orbs on film, as can be seen below. Another thing I could hear while snapping these photos were hints of whispers in the surrounding woods. If only I'd had my better equiptment with me to set up. Unfortunately, we were trespassing. In a case like this, you try to get in, get your photos, and get out! Below are the actual photos. Keep in mind, it was pitch dark.

The Verdict?

From my experience, yea, I'd say there's definitely something there. Now, whether it's the black laborer in the concrete or not remains to be seen. This bridge does go over the Deleware, and it could just as easily be from a murder or something where the body was tossed into the water or whatever, just for example. There will definitely be more investigation going on there within the next month or so with digital audio recording to see what shakes loose.
